Totnes to Dartington Hall

I was treated to a trip to Totnes on Tuesday 24th April by my friend Susan. We had lunch at the Willow cafe - I can not recommend this enough, it was delicious. The photos are all from the circular walk from the railway station to Dartington Hall, via the Cider Press at Dartington, and ending at the railway station for the steam train. Well worth visiting the cafe there for tea.

Day out to Blue Pool and Tyneham

On Sunday 15th April, Pauline, Glenys, Susan and I had a day out to Dorset. We stopped at Poundbury, on the outskirts of Dorchester, for coffee. We made our way to Blue Pool which is just outside Wareham. www.bluepooltearooms.co.uk Blue Pool
Little Pool - a haven for dragonflies in season.
Sika deer looking down from Sika walk.
Blue Pool from the other end.
We stopped in at Tyneham on the way back. The village is usually only open on holidays. We spent time wandering around the deserted houses and the farmyard. I thought the farmyard to be the most interesting and the only place with some atmosphere.

Red kites at Gigrin farm

As I will not be traveling until June, I thought I would upload images up from a few of my favourite days out. I was invited to go to Gigrin farm in Wales - www.gigrin.co.uk with friends Pauline and Glynis. It is about 2 hours drive and for once, I was a passenger. I like driving but it is nice to have a change. We stopped for coffee on the way at Llanwenarth Hotel (www.llanwenarthhotel.com and saw bullfinches in the garden. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay - it had beautiful views. Arrived at the farm about 1.30pm and went to the Gateway hide. It cost £10 and along with the other hides, provides a great view of the kites. We had plenty of time to practice our photography. Unfortunately, none of mine are sharp but they give you a good idea of what you can see. We left at 5.30 pm and stopped off for a meal on the way home. We spotted a beautiful double rainbow in one of three heavy showers.
