Alpine Bridge in Derbyshire

I joined Alpine Bridge for another enjoyable week. This time it was walking and Bridge and in Derbyshire. I stopped off at Kedleston Hall on the trip up on Saturday. My thanks to Trevor for taking the photos with me in them to show I was on the holiday!

A good walk to Black Rock started us off on Sunday. It was a walk which featured an interested husky and a baying spaniel. In the afternoon a few of us went on to Matlock Bath by the river to see the weekend bikers.

There was a trip up the cable car (had to be featured in an Alpine Bridge holiday) to Heights of Abraham on Monday and a tour around the caverns. Afterwards I walked around the other side of the river with Antony and Tony back to the hotel. We stopped at the Masson Mill's museum - best 2 pound 50 ever spent.

A walk on Tuesday to Dovedale started out gently - except for Derek who slipped off the stepping stones and Ray who slipped off the path down a bank (neither of which I captured on camera). The walk ended with a steep climb up and even steeper down with head butting sheep to greet us. Anthony (doing the yoga pose!) decided to watch us walk down before finding a better path. We then went on to Eyam village and Tissington where the rain finally caught us and we rushed back to the cars.

Wednesday was an all day visit to Chatsworth with a walk around the estate first before the guided tour of the house. Followed by the Thursday walk to the Monsal Viaduct starting and ending at Ashford on the Water.

It was a 'Do as you please day' on Friday. I went to Hardwick Hall with Liz, Paul and Tony (the head in the window). We stopped off at Stainsby Mill - hence the mill stones.

Before attempting the M5 on Saturday I visited Bakewell, Haddon Hall, then on to the Chestnut Centre at Chapel Le Frith to see the otters. Very pleased to see the giant otters too. The last time I saw them was in the wild in Peru but did not have a great zoom then.
