The Gower and Lake District

Back to the Gower for a week this time after the weekend in May. This time we managed to make the beaches as it wasn't as crowded as the Spring. Millie enjoyed all the walks.

Ostercatchers on our Whitesands walk.

Millie investigating on Rhossili beach and a piece of the wreck of the Helvetia.

After a lovely week on the Gower, I planned to drive up through Wales and spend the night near Chester. We would then drive on to Grasmere on the Sunday to the Lakeview B & B. However, 10 mins into the drive, a van drove into the back of my car when I had to stop at a roundabout. You can see the damage below. Luckily it was drivable after being fixed up by the RAC and I drove back home. Mum and I then drove up to the Lakes on the Sunday in Mum's car. Going to be £3,000+ to repair and take 2 weeks. I only hope the insurance co. doesn't write it off.

We finally made it to Brantwood Gardens, home of John Ruskin. I had seen the gardens recommended in a magazine and thought it would be good for photos. 250 acres so I imagined a parkland especially from the photo in the mag. Imagine my disappointment to find the gardens are all on a steep slope. The 'maple walk' consisted of two trees near a small patch of grass. The following is the view from the gardens.
