Aberdovey, Wales

There is nothing to beat Britain in the sunshine. I had the most beautiful drive from Taunton to Aberdovey on Friday 20th April. Wales was glorious and even the slight 'damping' of rain on Sunday could not spoil it. I joined Yvonne, Penny, Joy, Jean and Barbara at Penny's cousin's house for the weekend. There was plenty of walking, eating and drinking. I left a day early and heard that there was a lot of shopping done on the Monday. Photos tell you all. I had to take one of Joy modelling what she had brought to wear in case of bad weather. Needless to say she did not have to put any of it on except for the photo.

There were lambs everywhere and the robin seemed to pop up in most of the places we visited. Pooh sticks were played at Dolgoch Falls, hence the girls looking over the bridge trying to identify the sticks.

Crans Montana

The world trip has ended but I am still travelling. I completed the world trip without incident, unless you count losing my sunglasses on top of the Nut in Stanley, Tasmania. Not so travelling to Crans Montana. I sucessfully made my way through to the departures lounge at Gatwick, only to find that I had lost my passport. A very common occurance apparently. Two were handed in as I was looking for mine. I found out what it was like to have your case removed from the plane and be escorted out of airside. I made a fruitless trip to the passport office in Victoria. They were refurbishing and would not have given me an emergency passport. One because it is only in cases of life and death and two because mine was an old passport and it would take 3 weeks to process. Everyone was very helpful and I was in luck as the computers were down so my loss would not be reported until Monday. Any other time and the report would have meant that even finding my passport that weekend would have meant I could not travel on it. As it was the passport was found about 4 hours later and I was able to cancel the report via the Passport advice line which I should have used earlier. A search on the internet and an Easy Jet flight found, I was on my way 24 hours later to arrive with cheers at 8pm at the hotel.

The skiing was great. The temperature was a contrast to America being very hot and I wore none of the thermals, I had needed over there. The group had met Andy from the Ski Club of Great Britain, before I arrived and the B team skiied with him most of the week. 6 of us joined the Club including me. I had been recommended by a friend to join and it seemed like a good time. The 2 years for one was a great offer and 25% off my ski hire meant I halved the joining fee again. Usual photos including one of Millie on a walk in the park. Not all the photos are mine, The best are by Mike although I like my one of Craig trying on my hat. Mike took one of the 'deer' we saw on one of the runs. They were unconcerned by the skiers. One of them blended in with the rock so well we did not spot him/her for awhile.

Millie is still in favour even if she was the cause of my Mum breaking her arm. Millie tripped her up while she was walking in the same park in Taunton. I have been spending the time enticing her back into the park and over the bridge where the accident happened. Her toy dog and treats have been a help.

Next trip - Wales with the girls. Champagne is on the menu. Not sure if I will get photos!
