Winter 2020 on the Isle of Lewis

We had the first snow the other day but only a smattering on the west of the island.  In Point we had ice.  I visited my friend Liz at Benside to see her new kittens - sorry no photos of them but I saw her Hebrideans on the croft.  The tup was with them so hoping for lambs in the spring.  Had a lovely walk.  A few more beach images from the Braighe and Portvoller Bay.

rock pipit I think

All action on the feeder this week.  The robin has been visiting the lard pot but I still have managed a good image.  Then I heard a squeal and when I looked out there was a sparrowhawk spreadeagled on the hedge with a starling underneath it.  By the time I got the camera, it was on the ground to near the house wall for me to get an image.  S/he flew away with the prize.

I went in for coffee to The Blue Lobster on Saturday as usual.  Rain in the air but it cleared in the afernoon and the light was beautiful.  A short walk out to the bay to view the sunset.  I was later than I would have liked but it was good to get out in the dry.

Put my decorations up.  Had a lovely walk to Loch Innis in Bayble which I think will be the loch I will do a wader count on each month.  Went to the Christmas Trad session at An Lanntair.  Good to see a live gig.  Finally managed to walk the boardwalk over the road from the carpark at Aline.  The wind was bitter but I managed to miss most of the rain.  Christmas was the first time on my own but it was lovely.  Still eating the turkey, enough until Monday!!!  Snow fell on Sunday in Point and over Tolsta way.

A panorama from the top of Stag Hill.  Photoshop failed this time.  Probably due to all the rain!

Coming back down and saw a full rainbow.   Too wide for the camera
