Had a lovely walk on the coast path from Braigh towards Bayble with Liz on 29th January and then we went into lockdown on the same day. We had been so lucky on the island as we had stayed out of lockdown while the mainland were suffering. So back to coffee at home and short walks with Rupert. A trip to town for the first vaccination and shop for food. We have had about 2 weeks of lovely dry and sunny weather but cold. The loch partially froze but there was no more snow on Point, although other parts of Lewis had some. It has been lovely to see the snow covered mountains on the mainland. I can now view them from the back garden as I have had a visit from Hebrides gardener Alistair who has cut the bushes back.

I finally managed to walk from the lighthouse around to Portnaguran. I have walked this in the past but from the other direction and missed the path. Cold wind but the sun was out and it was glorious. Another walk down to Portvoller bay and the views to those mountains.

I think these may be the snow buntings which have been around |
