Lake District Scrabble Holiday
I can recommend the week held in February at Rothay Manor, playing Scrabble. Our scrabble tutors, Dave and Kathy ensured we all had a good time and I certainly learnt a lot. There was plenty of time to view some of the surrounding area. Rothay Manor is a very comfortable hotel with excellent service. Don't expect to come away losing any weight. The four course dinner every night ensures no one was hungry!
Grasmere was delightful but the day was too grey for photos. The one of Wordsworth's grave was the only one I took. If you are a jigsaw lover, make sure you visit Barney's newsagents. Enough jigsaws here to keep you happy.
On Wednesday there was time to take the boat from Ambleside to Bowness. The Beatrix Potter Exhibition is worth a visit too. There was a lone Whooper swan amongst the Mutes.
On the way back to Ambleside on the boat, I spotted the island with all the crows in the trees. It looked as if it still had frost on it. I stopped off at the Roman fort next to the Ambleside Rugby Club and managed to snap the two geese flying past.
Judith and I took a walk on Thursday to view the waterfalls at Ambleside. The last couple of photos are Scrabble based.
