RPS South Western weekend at Portland Bill

27/2/15 - Drove down to Weymouth, Radipole Lake with Ted to start the weekend with the RPS South Western weekend away.  Imagine my surprise to see Pauline and Glenys in the car park having just arrived at the same time.  We had a pleasant morning walking around the lake but no sighting of the bearded tits.  After a delicious lunch of homemade cheese scones at the RSPB visitor centre, Ted and I went off to book into the Portland Heights.  When I asked Ted if he wanted a lift, I forgot to check when he was returning.  Ted had booked in until Monday and I was in until Sunday!  Luckily the hotel had room for me to extend my stay.

We had a recce around Portland Bill before meeting the rest of the group for pre dinner drinks.

It was raining the next morning so we stayed in and listened to Paul Sanders' talk about his time as picture editor at The Times.  Very enjoyable.  Then it was out to Portland Bill to take photos.  After a lunch at the Lobster Cafe, a few of us went off on our own.

There was a Tuff Enuff challenge.  This was about the half way mark at Church Ope.  They had a lot of obstacles at the finish.

The quarry opposite the hotel had a lot of carvings.
We finished off Saturday with the second half of Paul's talk.  There were a lot of inspirational images which were enjoyed by all.

Only seven of us left for Sunday and we went on our separate ways.  Ted and I went down to Chesil beach and then walked to Portland castle looking for coffee.  Drove into Weymouth for a stroll around the harbour and along the beach.  We finished up at Radipole Lake again - still no bearded tits.  We were about to go to the quarry again when the rain came in so we decided that was the end.

An old building by the car park at Chesil Beach.  I had to peek inside.
