Vietnam and Cambodia Part V - Angkor Wat

We left Vietnam on a Silk air flight from Danang.  This seemed to be the only direct flight to Siem Riep where we were staying 4 nights at Pavillion Indo Chine hotel.  We were lucky enough to have Vannda as our taxi driver from the airport.  We stupidly did not hire him for the 3 days we were there, thinking he was pushing us into hiring him and the hotel may have something better.  The hotel driver we hired to take us to Beng Mealea did not speak English and was unable to answer our questions.

If you need a driver in Siem Riep then I can recommend Mr Vannda - korn.vannda777@yahoo.com.  Telephone no: +855 97 93 46 941 or +855 70 475 016

On our first day, Vannda took us to the Angkor Thom complex.  We followed the tourists as directed and visited 3 buildings and the Elephant Terrace before meeting back with Vannda in the car park.

Returned to the hotel for a swim then a lovely massage.  Went into Siem Riep by tuk tuk.  Our hotel is near the ticket office at Angkor Wat and about 2 miles from the town centre.   The tuk tuk driver took us to the Angkor kitchen for supper.  It is by the night market and we had an excellent meal here.  Then a wander around the markets and a drink in Pub street.  Reminded me of Cairns.
