6 weeks on Lewis Part 6

Only 2 weeks to go!

Jenny and I had a day out on Saturday.  Visited the pop up artist exhibition in Stornoway, where I was tempted into a purchase.  Drove to Barvas and took part in a charity soup lunch and conversation gith locals.  A visit with Sue and Alex and Borve pottery and popped into a local craft fair at Ness village hall before driving back for supper with Jenny and Murdo.  Went to see 'Lawless' which was the best out of the 3 films.  Based on a true story but VERY violent and gory.  A definite recommendation.

Love them or hate them

My first day without rain - if you don't count the shower on the way home in the evening.  I think the Hebrides was the only place in the west without rain.  My commiserations to all those back in Somerset.

I decided to have another search for the shielings.  I did find one but don't think this is the one.  I had to give up as I wanted to get to J & M's in the daylight.  The deer family was with them on Saturday but lying in the grass and difficult to photograph.  Of course, they did not turn up on Sunday!  Still, I was able to take my first sunset since I have been here.

Back to Bosta to take some focus points.  Aurora is due tomorrow and I hope to see it from Bosta.

Coffee at Callanish visitor centre on Tuesday and a trip through showers to 40 North for provisions.  I stopped off at Bragar beach and waited about half an hour for the dark rain cloud to reveal the sun.  Just as it was about to, another one joined it so no pic of Bragar beach.  If there was an aurora, I didn't see it.  Clouded over and rained on and off, as I traveled home from bridge in Stornoway.

Off to Harris with Jenny on Wednesday as the forecast was good.  Unfortunately, it rained and stayed grey until we were on the way back.  Had a good walk at Luskentyre and some views of the snow on the peak when the mist lifted.

I went out late on Thursday when it stopped raining and did the circular walk to Hackclete and the causeway at Barraclom - about 2 hours.  Only one image from the walk.  In the evening I went to the Fred Morrison concert with J & M.  A very entertaining evening of music by the talented piper and accompanying guitar player.

No photos from Friday.  Jenny and I took the dogs, Neave and Mike for a walk at Shawbost beach in the drizzle.  Neave took a fright at something, possibly the wind turbine and hid under the car.  Then she took off along the beach on to the cliff path.   Luckily she returned after causing Jenny's heart to race.
