Isle of Wight

Just returned from another excellent few days with my ex power walker friends.  As we have a couple of non power walkers who have joined as we have decided to rename ourselves as Tarts on Tour (Tots).

I traveled to Southampton by train and met up with with Jane and Rachel, Penny, Jean and Barbara to travel over by ferry to East Cowes.  We stayed at Kings Manor Lodge in Freshwater.  Highly recommended.  It sleeps 10.

We stopped off at Red Lion pub for lunch then thought we would do a short loop on the other end of the circular walk.  In the end we walked right up to the Tennyson monument and back via Freshwater Bay.  About 10-14 miles on the first day!

On Saturday we drove to Bonchurch and walked the coast path to Ventnor and back.

I was up early the next morning but since I was at the back of the house, hadn't seen the view until a shout from Jean, made me hurry to their window.  We then set out by bus to Alum Bay for a walk to Needles and a look around the Battery.  A walk and bus ride to Yarmouth for a lunch at Saltys then home.
