My Olympic experience

This set of photos shows what I experienced before and during London 2012.  I met loads of amazing gamesmakers but my main thanks go to Penny and Nigel Coase, who provided accommodation at West Byfleet, so I was able to work at Horseguards Parade.

I drove up to Surrey on Sunday 21st July, in order to make my venue training on Monday.  I was overjoyed to see a field of poppies by the A303 just after the Solstice services.

I spent Tuesday on a photoworkshop with Gavin Hoey - learnt lots and will have to put it all in practice.  Wednesday and Thursday I volunteered to meet and greet journalists at their hotels in London.  Worked at Radisson Edwardian at Warren Street and then Travellodge Royal Scot at Kings Cross.  On Friday I met up with my friend Amanda at London WWT.  My main objective was to do photograph the otters who had just been introduced.

My first shift was on Saturday but first I watched the men ride through West Byfleet in the Men's road race.  Had my camera on the wrong speed so no sharp pics but I like the effect.

On Sunday I walked with Penny, Barbara and Heather to Wisley and back.  Got soaked so we went to change clothes before running to see the women go through West Byfleet.  I just had time to snap this one as they went through.  Team GB must have been in the centre.

You wouldn't believe this cat was capable of jumping a foot or so in the air and attacking Fern (you will see her in another post).  I was walking Fern when she disturbed Rex, taking a snooze in a bush and Rex kept attacked her with growls and claws fully extended.  I was in hysterics with laughter and Fern was dazed, not sure what was going on.
