Olympic Torch Relay
On 21st May, the Olympic Torch came to Taunton, Somerset. This is my experience of the event. I was then ill for about a week and in recovery for another 2 weeks, so processing the photos went on the back burner. You will notice, however, in my later blogs, that the recovery period of the fluey bug didn't stop me going out and taking photos!
The torch didn't arrive until about 6.30pm. I wasn't in the section where Will I Am was carrying it. I think he handed over to the woman who took the torch past me, but though I could see her waiting for the handover, when it came, two coaches
drove up and obstructed the view.
I was up early the next day to see the torch off. It was leaving Taunton at 6.30am and I was amazed
how many people turned out to see it.
I noticed the two torches were out of the boat - unlit. This photo shows the torches with one lit. After the boat docked, one of the women in grey took an unlit torch to the coach and said the the coach driver "This one is her torch, make sure she gets it back". I can only assume, that the torch went out then could not be relit, so the spare torch, carried by one of the grey runners, had to be used.
