Images of Jersey
I went on a photoworkshop with Rocque Images to Jersey, run by Mac Bouchere. We were due to fly out on Friday 16th April from Exeter but ended up with a ferry from Weymouth due to some volcanic ash. A little delay in our itinerary did not dent the group's enthusiasm. I met Graham and Pauline, Andy and Jo my roommate - all keen photographers except for Pauline who was hoping to find time for running and swimming. I can definitely recommend the trip. Mac was very patient with my grumbles and managed to be there just when you needed him. I learnt a lot. If you get the chance to stay an extra day, then a visit to Jersey Camera Club and the Durrell Centre is a possibility.
After dropping off our luggage at Pontac Hotel and collecting our packed lunches we visited a Dolmen and I snapped this house on the way back.
An evening spent at Corbiere to snap the sunset. Thanks to John who joined us and gave us some extra tips. The dashes of white in the sky are stars moving - I was on a 5 minute exposure.
On Saturday, the sunrise at La Rocque was a little disappointing and very cold. We spent the later morning on the Noirmont headland.
On Saturday we had lunch at St Aubin's harbour and walked around the antique fayre.
We went on to the 5 mile road and wandered around lakes, the beach and ended up at the White House.

A visit to Gorey castle on Sunday morning and I found this lizard sunning itself on the wall below the castle.
I have loads of snaps of this colourful boat but none square in the frame!
I failed to capture the moto cross adequately but it was good practice taking the bikes at speed.
Mac managed to persuade me to clamber over the rocks to get to this waterfall in a cave. Graham showed me the image he had taken and I shamelessly copied it.
The art deco swimming pool at St Helier is great for capturing images. Graham managed to persuade this boy to jump in a second time so I had the opportunity for a shot. Pauline, sensibly, used her wetsuit when she swam here the next day.
We had to stay on Jersey for an extra day due to volcanic ash. We were invited to Jersey Camera Club on the Monday evening and experienced the best images of the year which had been produced by their members. On Tuesday we went to the Durrell Centre and spent the day taking photos. Definitely worth spending time here. The baby lemur below was born in February and the first in a few years. A female lemur was introduced to the bachelor group last year with the inevitable result.
